A unit is a square of the picture, not a share of the property
A unit is a fixed square of a listing’s image, recorded to your account. It gives you the right to edit that square, to show it, to sell it on the marketplace, and to vote on significant decisions about the listing. It is not equity, fractional ownership, rental income, or a promise of financial return. When a listing reaches 100%, the property goes to Nestmarket, and then into a housing trust where the law allows; it does not go to unit holders.
Your square never moves
Every unit is a set of pixel coordinates in the listing’s image, and those coordinates are locked. They are not recomputed, rounded, or reassigned, because your purchase, your edits, and any resale all refer to that exact square.
Prices, fees, and resale
The listing sets the price of a new unit. On the marketplace you set your own asking price, and the buyer pays it through their wallet; a platform fee, currently 2.5%, comes out of the seller’s proceeds. Nestmarket does not guarantee that a listed unit finds a buyer or sells at any particular price.
Purchases are final unless the listing says otherwise
Whether a listing refunds buyers if it does not sell out is set per listing. The pilot house does not, because its marketplace is open from day one and a unit can be resold as soon as it is bought. Future listings that keep the marketplace closed until sell-out refund every buyer if the window closes short of 100%.
Edits are kept and shown to everyone
Every edit is kept with before-and-after images, and you can go back to any earlier version or the original. A painting you delete leaves your history for good, though Nestmarket keeps a record of it. Edited units are visible on the listing, in the gallery, and as pieces in the games. You keep the rights to what you make and give Nestmarket a license to display it on the platform.
Still images only
Animated images and videos are currently not supported. An upload is placed as a still picture.
Votes are input, not control
Unit owners vote on significant decisions for a listing, such as repairs and upgrades. Nestmarket decides and answers for the outcome under the platform’s governance rules. A vote does not make you a landlord, a manager, or a party to the lease.
Money in the wallet is not a bank deposit
You buy units with a wallet balance you fund through Stripe. The balance is not a bank deposit, is not FDIC insured, and earns no interest.
